How Your Custom Build Works
1. Configure. Pick every detail above — blade, steel, handles, engraving. The price updates as you build.
2. Order. Add it to your cart and check out like any other product. If you chose a custom material or custom sheath, we’ll email you a quote for that part before any work begins — nothing extra is charged until you approve it.
3. We forge. Your spec goes straight to the artisan’s bench. Hand-ground blade, hand-fitted inserts, hand-tuned pivots. Allow 2–3 weeks.
4. It ships. From our Tennessee facility, with your engraving, your materials, your balance.

The Balisong Story
Born in Batangas. The balisong takes its name from Barangay Balisong in Taal, Batangas province, Philippines — a town where entire families have forged butterfly knives for generations. To this day, Batangas blades are considered the original article.
The “veinte y nueve.” The classic Filipino balisong measures 29 centimeters open — which is why old-timers in the Philippines still call it the “veinte y nueve” (twenty-nine). We offer that exact traditional length as one of our size options.
One piece of steel. Traditional Batangas balisongs were often forged with the blade and tang from a single piece of steel, with handles built around it — a construction style we still honor in our pinned builds.
Why horn and hardwood? Carabao horn, deer horn, and native hardwoods weren’t just decoration — they were what Batangueño smiths had on hand. The materials became part of the knife’s identity. Every insert we fit continues that lineage.
The flip came later. In the Philippines the balisong was first a working knife and a pocket tool. The flipping culture — aerials, ladders, zen rollovers — grew up around it later, especially in the US. A well-tuned balisong serves both worlds: collector’s piece and flipper’s instrument.
