The balisong is a Batangas knife. Filipino smiths have been folding a pair of handles around a blade there for generations, a design that answered a real need long before anyone flipped one for sport.
The makers behind Balisong Butterfly come from those families. They work in the United States now, with modern machining and precision tuning on hand, but the sequence they follow at the bench is the one they were taught.

VG10 is a fine grained Japanese stainless. Damascus is forge welded and etched, so no two patterns repeat. Handles are cut from kamagong ebony, carabao horn, Philippine deer horn and bone. For rust, Eezox protects the steel, and Bar Keepers Friend will lift heavy rust if it is used carefully.
