Hand-forged in the Batangas tradition
The balisong was born in Batangas, Philippines. Every knife in this catalogue is made by Filipino artisans and metalworkers, many from families with generations of experience, now working in the United States. Blades are ground from 440C stainless, D2 tool steel, VG10, high carbon and Damascus, and fitted to handles of kamagong ebony, carabao horn, Philippine deer horn and bone.

Carbon steels that take heat treatment well run 0.30–1.70% carbon by weight, and this blade finishes at roughly 58 to 60 HRC. Trace elements matter more than the headline number: sulfur in particular makes steel red-short — brittle and crumbly at working temperature — which is why low-alloy grades such as A36 hold it near 0.05% and melt around 1,426–1,538 °C (2,599–2,800 °F). Manganese is added to improve harden ability, and AISI still counts up to 1.65% of it as carbon steel.
