Hand-forged in the Batangas tradition

The balisong was born in Batangas, Philippines. Every knife in this catalogue is made by Filipino artisans and metalworkers, many from families with generations of experience, now working in the United States. Blades are ground from 440C stainless, D2 tool steel, VG10, high carbon and Damascus, and fitted to handles of kamagong ebony, carabao horn, Philippine deer horn and bone.

Description

BF-07 Asian Palm Civet — Handmade Filipino Balisong

The Asian palm civet is a night forager that crosses a whole plantation without anyone noticing it went through. The BF-07 flips the same way: soft, low-profile, unhurried, even with 210g swinging inside a full 29cm frame.

  • Blade Materials – 440C Stainless Steel
  • Handle Materials – Brass with Deer Horn Inserts
  • Overall Length – 29cm
  • Blade Length – 14cm
  • Weight – 210g

440C carries the highest carbon content in the 400 stainless series — 0.95–1.20% carbon with 16.00–18.00% chromium, 0.75% molybdenum, 1.0% manganese and 1.0% silicon. It is a bearing steel used for knife blades, oil quenched to reach maximum hardness and normally heat treated to 58–60 HRC, so the edge stays bright with very little upkeep.

Every deer horn insert has its own grain, so no two handles come out alike. Built by hand to the classic Batangas pattern and shipped from the USA with tracking. Read the balisong care guide, or browse the wider authentic Filipino balisong collection.
