Hand-forged in the Batangas tradition
The balisong was born in Batangas, Philippines. Every knife in this catalogue is made by Filipino artisans and metalworkers, many from families with generations of experience, now working in the United States. Blades are ground from 440C stainless, D2 tool steel, VG10, high carbon and Damascus, and fitted to handles of kamagong ebony, carabao horn, Philippine deer horn and bone.

440C sits at the top of the 400-series stainless steels for carbon content — roughly 0.95–1.20% carbon, 16.00–18.00% chromium, 0.75% molybdenum, 1.0% manganese and 1.0% silicon. Heat treatment usually brings it to 58–60 HRC, and it can be oil quenched to reach maximum hardness. It is a bearing steel, long used for knife blades.

Every BF-05 Honeypot Ant is an authentic Filipino balisong, hand-built the way Batangas makers have crafted butterfly knives for generations. The blade is rust-resistant 440c stainless steel that holds a clean, bright edge with minimal care. The handles carry Philippine deer horn, each insert with its own natural grain and character. At 29cm overall and 300g, it balances beautifully in the hand – built to the classic Filipino pattern.
