Hand-forged in the Batangas tradition
The balisong was born in Batangas, Philippines. Every knife in this catalogue is made by Filipino artisans and metalworkers, many from families with generations of experience, now working in the United States. Blades are ground from 440C stainless, D2 tool steel, VG10, high carbon and Damascus, and fitted to handles of kamagong ebony, carabao horn, Philippine deer horn and bone.

The BF-97 is the hunting blade version in the Pandayan Traditional Series: a 12cm blade set in brass handles with rose wood panels, 24cm overall and 200g.
Pandayan is the Tagalog word for the smithy, the village forge these knives come out of, and the hunting blade is the working member of the family — rose wood over brass, no ornament, meant to be carried rather than displayed.

The blade is hardened to 58-60 HRC: razor sharp for precision cutting, tough under load, and slow to lose its edge. Lightweight and compact in the hand — small, but powerful.
