Why go smaller
A mini balisong is easier to pocket, easier to flip in a confined space, and easier on smaller hands. The shorter handles mean a tighter arc — rollovers come round faster, and you need less clearance to work through a sequence. Flippers who find a full-size 29 cm balisong unwieldy usually get on with these immediately.
What you give up is leverage. A long handle does part of the work for you on slow, controlled openings; a short one does not. Neither is better — they are different feels, and plenty of collectors keep one of each.
Build quality is not reduced
These are not scaled-down novelties. Construction is the same hand-fitted sandwich build as the full-size knives, with the same traditional latch and the same handle materials — kamagong wood and stag horn in the current selection. One build uses an extra-thick blade and inner liner to keep the smaller frame rigid.
