What a drop point blade is on a balisong

The spine curves gently down to meet the edge, so the tip ends up somewhere near the middle of the blade’s height rather than up at the spine or down at the belly. It is the shape most hunting knives use, most kitchen utility knives use, and most people picture when they picture a knife.

D2 at 58-60 HRC will take longer to sharpen than soft stainless and will stay sharp far longer once you are done. That trade is the whole argument for tool steel.
