Hand-forged in the Batangas tradition
The balisong was born in Batangas, Philippines. Every knife in this catalogue is made by Filipino artisans and metalworkers, many from families with generations of experience, now working in the United States. Blades are ground from 440C stainless, D2 tool steel, VG10, high carbon and Damascus, and fitted to handles of kamagong ebony, carabao horn, Philippine deer horn and bone.

The BF-94 belongs to the Pandayan Traditional Series — a 24cm balisong with a 12cm blade, brass handles and narra burl wood. Narra burl replaces the near-black kamagong used across most of the range, so the handle reads warmer and redder than the other traditional knives here.
Pandayan is the Tagalog word for the smithy — the village forge a Batangas balisong actually comes out of. The series is named for the workshop rather than for an animal, and it is the one line here that says so on the label.
