Hand-forged in the Batangas tradition
The balisong was born in Batangas, Philippines. Every knife in this catalogue is made by Filipino artisans and metalworkers, many from families with generations of experience, now working in the United States. Blades are ground from 440C stainless, D2 tool steel, VG10, high carbon and Damascus, and fitted to handles of kamagong ebony, carabao horn, Philippine deer horn and bone.

Damascus is folded steel, and the pattern it leaves runs the length of whatever you forge it into. On a 29cm Visayan frame with a 14cm blade, those lines have room to stretch out — which is the whole reason this shape and this steel were put together.

The blade is finished at 58–60 HRC. At that hardness the edge comes up razor sharp for precision cutting, holds well through use, and keeps strong toughness behind it. At 220g the knife is substantial without being unwieldy — ready for anything.
