Hand-forged in the Batangas tradition
The balisong was born in Batangas, Philippines. Every knife in this catalogue is made by Filipino artisans and metalworkers, many from families with generations of experience, now working in the United States. Blades are ground from 440C stainless, D2 tool steel, VG10, high carbon and Damascus, and fitted to handles of kamagong ebony, carabao horn, Philippine deer horn and bone.

A lizard lies flat against the wall until the second it decides to move. The BF-71 sits flat and quiet in the hand until you move it, and that low, even brass-and-kamagong profile is exactly where the name came from.

High carbon steel is the traditional Batangas choice — tough, easy to sharpen, built for real use — and this blade is heat treated to approximately 58 to 60 HRC. Grades that respond well to heat treatment hold 0.30–1.70% carbon by weight, with manganese added to improve harden ability (AISI permits up to 1.65%). Sulfur is the one to keep down, since it leaves steel red-short and crumbly at working heat.
The handles carry kamagong, Philippine ironwood, one of the densest hardwoods on earth. A working blade and a collector piece at once — handmade, not machined by the thousand. Read the history of the balisong, or add custom engraving.
