Hand-forged in the Batangas tradition
The balisong was born in Batangas, Philippines. Every knife in this catalogue is made by Filipino artisans and metalworkers, many from families with generations of experience, now working in the United States. Blades are ground from 440C stainless, D2 tool steel, VG10, high carbon and Damascus, and fitted to handles of kamagong ebony, carabao horn, Philippine deer horn and bone.

Steels in the 0.30–1.70% carbon range by weight can be heat-treated successfully, and the trace elements alongside that carbon decide how good the result is. Sulfur makes a steel red-short — brittle and crumbly at working temperatures — while low-alloy carbon steel such as A36 grade contains about 0.05% sulfur and melts around 1,426–1,538 °C (2,599–2,800 °F). Manganese improves hardenability, and AISI permits up to 1.65% of it before a steel stops being called carbon steel. This blade is finished at approximately 58 to 60 HRC.
