Hand-forged in the Batangas tradition
The balisong was born in Batangas, Philippines. Every knife in this catalogue is made by Filipino artisans and metalworkers, many from families with generations of experience, now working in the United States. Blades are ground from 440C stainless, D2 tool steel, VG10, high carbon and Damascus, and fitted to handles of kamagong ebony, carabao horn, Philippine deer horn and bone.

Detailed hand inspection, smoothness and pivot testing, blade alignment checks, and durability and finish quality control. If a knife doesn't meet our standards, it never reaches our customers.

BF-36 Dragonfly — VG10 Balisong, Brass and Kamagong
A dragonfly works all four wings independently, which is what makes its flight so hard to predict. The BF-36 was named for that quality: the 180g balance lets each handle run at its own speed through a flip instead of moving as one lump.

VG10 stainless is roughly 1% carbon, 1% molybdenum, 15% chromium, .2% vanadium and 1.5% cobalt. Those are small quantities, but they are what give the steel its unusual mix of edge retention and durability. The balanced composition means wear resistance, corrosion resistance, hardness and toughness all arrive together — the reason it is so widely used in Japan, and a good pick for humid conditions.
Kamagong is dense Philippine ebony, hand-fitted to the brass. Made in the Filipino tradition and shipped from the USA.
