Hand-forged in the Batangas tradition
The balisong was born in Batangas, Philippines. Every knife in this catalogue is made by Filipino artisans and metalworkers, many from families with generations of experience, now working in the United States. Blades are ground from 440C stainless, D2 tool steel, VG10, high carbon and Damascus, and fitted to handles of kamagong ebony, carabao horn, Philippine deer horn and bone.
Checked four times
Detailed hand inspection, smoothness and pivot testing, blade alignment checks, and durability and finish quality control. If a knife doesn't meet our standards, it never reaches our customers.

BF-48 Gecko — Lightweight VG10 Filipino Balisong
Geckos hold on where nothing else will. That is the idea behind this one: kamagong has enough natural texture to stay sure in a hot or sweaty hand, and at 150g the BF-48 is light enough that grip does most of the work.

The blade is VG10 — about 1% carbon, 1% molybdenum, 15% chromium, .2% vanadium, 1.5% cobalt. Small additions, large effect: this is high-end steel with a balanced chemical composition, offering great edge retention, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, hardness and toughness at once. It is popular in Japan and does especially well in humid environments, which is why Japanese fishermen favour it.
