Damascus Butterfly Knives
Most Damascus butterfly knives sold online are plain stainless with a pattern printed or acid-etched onto the surface. Here is how to check, on any knife, including one you already own.
Look at the edge bevel under a light. On a forged billet the pattern runs off the flat and continues through the bevel, because the layers go all the way through the steel. On an etched fake the pattern stops dead where the bevel starts, since the grinding removed the printing. Second check: look at both sides. Real folded steel gives you two different patterns, because you are looking at two different cross-sections of the same stack. A printed one is often suspiciously symmetrical, or identical on both faces.
Third check is the price, and it is the bluntest one. Forge-welding a billet by hand takes hours before anyone grinds a blade. Our Damascus starts at $154.00 for the BF-129 tanto and the nineteen knives here average $240.67. Anything claiming Damascus at $40 is a sticker.

About our balisongs
The balisong began in Batangas, in the Philippines, and every knife in this collection is made in that tradition. Our knives are made by Filipino artisans and metalworkers, many from families with generations of experience, now working in the United States.
Blades are ground in 440C stainless, D2 tool steel, VG10, high carbon and Damascus steel. Handles are fitted in kamagong ebony, carabao horn, Philippine deer horn and bone, and every knife ships with a fitted leather sheath. Both live blades and trainers are offered.
Before a knife leaves the bench it passes a four-step quality process: detailed hand inspection, smoothness and pivot testing, blade alignment checks, and durability and finish quality control. If a knife doesn't meet our standards, it never reaches our customers.
Most orders ship in 1 to 3 business days and arrive in 4 to 8 business days across the USA, or 8 to 14 business days internationally. Out of stock knives are handcrafted to order in 2 to 3 weeks, and every order ships worldwide with tracking.
