440c Stainless steel butterfly knife
440C is the steel we hand to people who tell us their palms sweat when they flip. It hardens to around 58 to 60 HRC, takes a clean edge without a fight, and shrugs off the skin oil and humidity that would leave spots on a carbon blade by morning. That is the whole pitch, and it is a good one.
There are 22 440C balisongs on this shelf, from the BF-02 Argentine Ant at $110.00 up to the BF-21 Catfish at $247.50, averaging $151.99. They are the animal-named series, ground and fitted by hand in Batangas with carabao horn, kamagong or bone.
The honest trade-off: 440C will not hold an edge as long as our D2. If you cut every day you will be back at the stones sooner. If you mostly flip, carry, and would rather stop thinking about rust altogether, that difference will never cost you anything you actually notice. Beginners and anyone living somewhere humid should start here and spend the saved money on a better handle.

About our balisongs
The balisong began in Batangas, in the Philippines, and every knife in this collection is made in that tradition. Our knives are made by Filipino artisans and metalworkers, many from families with generations of experience, now working in the United States.
Blades are ground in 440C stainless, D2 tool steel, VG10, high carbon and Damascus steel. Handles are fitted in kamagong ebony, carabao horn, Philippine deer horn and bone, and every knife ships with a fitted leather sheath. Both live blades and trainers are offered.
Before a knife leaves the bench it passes a four-step quality process: detailed hand inspection, smoothness and pivot testing, blade alignment checks, and durability and finish quality control. If a knife doesn't meet our standards, it never reaches our customers.
Most orders ship in 1 to 3 business days and arrive in 4 to 8 business days across the USA, or 8 to 14 business days internationally. Out of stock knives are handcrafted to order in 2 to 3 weeks, and every order ships worldwide with tracking.
